Eula Mable Scheland

Eula Mable Scheland, 79, of Havana died at 9:35 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on July 8, 1930 in Hickman, KY, to George and Alice (Palmer) Shelby. She married Letcher Dee Scheland on May 31, 1945 in Careant, MS.
Mrs. Scheland is survived by her husband, of 64 years, Dee Scheland, two daughters, Roma Layton and Judy (Rodney) O’Grady of Havana, two sons, Roger Scheland of Beardstown and Gary (Brenda) Scheland of Kilbourne. She raised one grandson, Corey Scheland and one great-grandson, Blake Scheland, both of Havana, 13 grandkids and 20 great grandkids. She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Scheland of Havana, one sister, Iona Reed of Cache, IL and both parents.
Mrs. Scheland was a homemaker, a die-hard Cardinal fan who loved spending time with her family when she wasn’t bowling or playing bingo.
Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Thursday, October, 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. L. Arvil Bass officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
