Esther Hoff

(1924 - 2010)

Esther Marie Hoff, 86, of Tallula, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Sunny Acres Home in Petersburg. She was born on January 14, 1924 in Petersburg to Henry and Goldie Rahmann Janssen. She married Dr. Loren Hollis on January 4, 1947 in Petersburg. She later married Leland Hoff on August 2, 1980 in Clarksville, TN.

She is survived by five daughters, Nancy (Lance) Brown of Athens, Chris (Terry) Bacon, Dawn (Bruse) Morrow, Tina Evans, and Lori (Rick) Chapman,  all of Tallula; eleven grandchildren, Jeremy Chapman, Tiffany Whitesides, Heather Bacon-Muller, Allyn Brown, Jamie Bushnell, Ryan Morrow, Brian Brown, Nicole Brown, Jennifer Brown, Colin Chapman and Danielle Sunley; and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; two sons, Ronald Hollis and Frederick Hollis; a brother, Rahmann “Dutch” Janssen; and her parents.

She had been a waitress. She also was the receptionist for her husband’s chiropractic office.  She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Petersburg.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
