Esther Ruth Chilton

1951 - 2011

Esther Ruth Chilton, 60, of Lincoln, formerly of Chandlerville, passed away in Alexander, IL at 11:58 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2011. She was born July 9, 1951 in Chandlerville, IL to Thomas Herbert and Ruth Dorothy Marie (Glick) Chilton.

Ms. Chilton is survived by her brother, Henry (Connie) Chilton, of Alexander, IL, niece, Abigail Chilton of Tulsa, OK and nephew, Nathan Chilton of Alexander. Also surviving is one aunt, Roberta Glick Rovey of Farmersville, IL and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and aunt Henrietta Goetsch.

Ms. Chilton received her Bachelor’s Degree at Concordia Teachers College in Seward, NE. She then worked for six years at an orphanage in Sonolta, Senora, Mexico, teaching English. She taught for three years in Royal Oaks, Michigan. She then returned home to help her mother care for her father. At this time, she taught Children’s Church at the Virginia Assembly of God. Later she moved to Lincoln, IL and took a job in the daycare and school at New Wine and Kingdom Life Church. While there she enjoyed developing new lesson plans.Since 2001, she has taught at Riverton CUSD #14 through the Sangamon Area Special Education District. She was a member of the Lincoln Christian Church and was very mission minded. She also enjoyed researching genealogy.

Funeral services will be held at the Lincoln Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at Chandlerville Cemetery in Chandlerville at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Ron Otto will officiate.
