Ethel Schoonover

(1911-2005)

Ethel Mae Schoonover of Mason City, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, April 10, 2005, at her residence.  She was born March 25, 1911, in Milltown, Ky., to John Wesley and Minnie (Beard) Skaggs. She married Robert J. Schoonover on December 27, 1933, in Teheran.  He preceded her in death.  She also was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and one granddaughter. 

Survivors include four daughters: Ann Bowles and Janet Schoonover, both of Mason City, Patricia (and Roger) Jones of Mesa, Ariz., and Martha (and Don) Scaff of Wyoming; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. 

Mrs. Schoonover was a former member of Mason County Home Extension and a member of the Mason City United Methodist Church.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the Mason City United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the services.  Cremation was accorded with burial of ashes in Mason City Cemetery.  Memorials were made to the church or the American Lung Association.
