Evelyn L. Atwater

1920 - 2011

Evelyn L. Atwater, 91, of Havana, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born February 6, 1920 in Forest City, IL to Gilbert and Hattie Rebecca (Schroen) Barnes. She married William Atwater on March 13, 1938 in Forest City. 

Mrs. Atwater is survived by her husband, William, of Havana, three daughters, Judith Ann Wilcoxen of Havana, Shirley Jean Bretthauer of Sieverville, TN, Elva Stigell of Havana, two sons, Ronald (Ina) Atwater, Gary (Sheila) Atwater, both of Havana, eighteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Atwater was a member of the Havana Church of Christ where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She had also been a member of Mason County HCE.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Havana Church of Christ with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Rev. Bill Boyce and Warren Hughes will officiate.
