Everett J. Hammel

(1929-2011)

Everett J. Hammel, 82 of San Jose died at 2:15pm on Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.  He was born on May 4, 1929 the son of Ralph E. and Elsie (Morrel) Hammel in Versailles, IL.  He married Josephine A. Cassidy on January 16, 1950; she preceded him in death in 1995.

Survivors are five sons: Tom Hammel of Springfield, Mike Hammel of San Jose, Dennis Hammel of Green Valley, Scott Hammel of San Jose, Aaron Hammel of McLean; 10 daughters: Beverly Worlow of San Jose, Barb Dansby of Peoria, Patricia Shelley of San Jose, Kathy Root of Mason City, Denise Allen of San Jose, Sue Zaremba of Marquette Heights, Michelle Wagner of San Jose, Connie Weakman of San Jose, Teresa Mirch of Bloomington and Rhonda Moulton of St. Louis.  Also surviving is one sister, Betty Kramer of East Peoria, 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife and one son.

Graveside services will be at 11:15am on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Green Hill Cemetery, Allen Payne will officiate, and visitation is from 10-11 at Hurley Funeral Home in San Jose.  Memorials can be left to the Mason City Area Nursing Home. Hurley Funeral Home in San Jose is in charge of arrangements.
