Flossie Poteet

(1917 - 2011)

Flossie S. Poteet, 93, of Petersburg passed away on Friday, April 15, 2011 at Menard Convalescent Center. She was born on September 19, 1917 in Edmonson County, KY to John Peter and Rosella Elmore Vincent. She married Edward Poteet on September November 4, 1935 in Litchfield, KY. He passed away on March 20, 1986.

She is survived by a son, Harlon Poteet of Athens; two daughters, Nina (Lindel) Brown of Tennessee and Shirley (Jim) Buhr of Williamsville; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Poteet of Riverton; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; son, Elmer Poteet; daughter-in-law, Shirley Poteet; and twelve brothers and sisters.

She was a homemaker and was a member of Truth Tabernacle in Petersburg. She loved gardening, quilting, and raising chickens.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. Casey McCormick will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
