Frances May Sarff

1920 - 2010

Frances May Sarff, 90, of Havana, died at 9:11 p.m. at OSF-St Francis Medical Center in Peoria on Sunday, October 10, 2010. She was born October 7, 1920 in Bath to Margaret A. (Zurhorst) and Rudolph H. Dierker. She married Arthur Wayne Sarff, Sr., on January 4, 1942 and her preceded her in death on July 16, 2006.

Mrs. Sarff is survived by one daughter, Mary (Ralph) Howerter of Havana, four sons, Wayne (Grace) Sarff, Jr. of Havana, Kenny Sarff of Havana, Dennis (Mary) Sarff of Havana and Rick (Cindy) Sarff of rural Petersburg; seven grandchildren, Jim, Jeff (Vicki) and Jon Bonnett of Havana, Lisa (Ron) Ludlum of Bushnell, Mike Sarff of St. Louis, MO, Philip (April) Sarff of Columbia, MO and Jennifer Sarff of Havana. She has two great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother, Wayne (Dorothy) Dierker of Peoria, a sister, Marilyn (Bill) Banks of Avon, IN, sister-in-law, Margaret Wayve Giddens of Peoria and a brother-in-law, Jim (Kathleen) Sarff of Chandlerville. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son in 1946 and her brother, Robert Dierker.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Altar Guild Society. She had worked in the law offices of Richard Velde, Howard White and Edward Miller.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010 with visitation one hour prior to the services. Rev. Martin W. Liebmann Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
