Francis A. Kneedler
(1924-2011)
Francis A. Kneedler, 86, of Mason City died at 3:45pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at his residence. He was born on March 8, 1925 in Springfield, IL, the son of Louis and Flora (Porter) Kneedler. Francis married Phyllis Wasilewski on January 21, 1949 in Athens, IL.
Survivors are his wife Phyllis; three daughters: Carol Kneedler (Tom England), Mari (Richard) Whitney and Cathy Hobart (Doug Nicodemus). Also surviving are seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Kneedler had one brother, Jack Lemons.
Mr. Kneedler served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942-1946 as a Radar Operator. He was a Trooper for the Illinois State Police in District 9 for 23 years retiring in 1981.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am, Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Pastor James Sprinkel will officiate; visitation will be at 10:00am (one hour prior to service). Burial will be at Mason City Cemetery. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be left to Mason County Pets without Parents, Citizen’s for Positive Adolescent Choices (CPAC) or Donor’s Choice.
