Gabriel B. Barker 1978 - 2010
Gabriel B. Barker, 31, of Havana, passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his home. He was born May 29, 1978 in Canton to Colin and Shirley (Schmidt) Barker. Gabe is survived by his father, Colin of Havana, two sons, Silas and Elijah Barker of Astoria, sister, Caitlyn Barker of Springfield and maternal grandmother, Mary Schmidt of Havana. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Schmidt Barker, brother, Zachary Barker, grandfathers, Cap Schmidt and Vance Barker and paternal grandmother Mable Barker. He was a loving father, brother, son, and friend. He enjoyed giving guitar lessons to many aspiring young musicians and being a team member on several area pool leagues. Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Pastor Dave Byrd will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to his family.
