George Bohm

(1914-2010)

Havana, IL – George E. Bohm, 96, of Vermont, IL formerly of Havana passed away at 1:32 pm Sat. Dec. 4, 2010 at Astoria Gardens and Rehab Center. He was born Feb. 12, 1914 in Havana the son of Lawrence E “Gene” and Ola Gilbert Bohm. He married Esther Garber Oct. 16, 1935 in Galesburg and she died Feb. 24, 1985

Mr. Bohm was a retired farmer and had owned and two grocery stores, The Depot Market in Havana and Georges Food Market in Ipava. He operated the stores after his return from the US Navy serving on the USS Bandera in WWII. He was a member of the Vermont, IL American Legion Post.

George is survived by 2 daughers: Nancy Porter of Vermont, IL and Carol Wherley of Tucson, AZ and four sons: Edward Bohm of Vermont, IL, George Bohm of Big Piney, Wyoming, Rob Bohm of Marbleton, Wyoming, and Paul Bohm of Rock Springs, Wyoming. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana with burial to follow in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the activity fund at Astoria Gardens.
