George E. Shaw

(1933 - 2006)

George E. Shaw, 73, of Riverton, died on June 5, 2006 at his residence. He was born on May 1, 1933 in Bloomington, Il to Minor and Margaret Smoot Shaw. He married Dorothy Mears in Springfield in 1982. 

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Paul Shaw of Nevada, and Stephen Shaw of Springfield; two daughters, Georgia (Mark) Ed of Petersburg, and Karen (Jim) Herzberger of Ocala, FL; three stepdaughters, Toni (William) Moleski of Springfield, Tracy Compston of Springfield, and Rebecca (Gregory) Shepard of Springfield; twelve grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Mr. Shaw had been a farmer. He had worked as a Post Master at Lincoln's New Salem. He also had been the former owner of Menard Bowl. 

Funeral services for Mr. Shaw were held on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg at 11:00 a.m. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
