George Calvin Gore

(1925-2008)

George Calvin Gore, 83 of Lincoln, died at 12:45pm, December 16, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center.  He was born May 20, 1925 the son of Charlie M. and Edythe (Tracy) Gore in Mason City.

Mr. Gore is survived by two brothers: James (Betty) Gore of Pekin, Delmar (Trudy) Gore of Montgomery, AL; one sister: Frances (John) Regan of Warrenton, VA, many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Mr. Gore served five years in the Navy and nine years in the Air Force, before returning to Mason City where he worked and retired from the Post Office.  He was a member of the American Legion, Anser Shrines and Mason’s.  He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling, as well as the many people who befriended him.

Services will be at 11:00am, Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, visitation will be one hour prior to service, burial at Mason City Cemetery, the Rev. Curt McCallister will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friendship Manor in Lincoln, 925 Primm Road, Lincoln, IL 62656, or Quincy Veterans Home, 1707 N. 12th St., Quincy, IL 62301-1397.
