Havana, IL - George Joseph Lee, 83, of Havana passed away at 1:04 am Tues. Oct. 31, 2006 at the Havana Healthcare Center in Havana. He was born Oct. 25, 1923 in Decatur, IL the son of George and Ethel Collett Lee. He married Nona Meyer April 11, 1953 in Havana and she survives.

George was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Havana, served as Havana Volunteer fireman for 25 years, retiring in 1988, and had bowled for many years in the Church League. He moved to Havana when he worked for Railway Express, he later worked for Du-Rite Laundry and Al’s Superway and finally for many years owed and operated the Sears Roebuck Catalogue Store in Havana until he retired. He was a US Army Veteran serving in Europe during WWII.

He is survived by two daughters, Marty (Stan) Balbinot of Havana and Bonnie (Brad) Windsor of Dunlap, IL and one grandson, Matt Windsor and two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Andrew Lee, one sister, Mary O’Mara and one niece.

Services will be held at 10:30 am Fri. Nov. 3, 2006 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Havana with Father Stephen Engelbrecht officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Havana. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 pm Thursday at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana with Rosary Services at 5:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason District Hospital in Havana or the Havana Healthcare Patient Fund. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com.
