Havana, IL - Gordon A. Brown, 68, of 617 N. Broadway, Havana, IL died at 10:00 pm Wed. Dec. 28, 2005 at OSF St. Francis in Peoria, IL. He was born June 18, 1937 in Canton, IL the son of Howard Martin and Evelyn Kathleen Cox Brown. He married Portia Keefer June 24, 1956 in Astoria, IL and she survives.

He is also survived by one son, Todd (Linda) Brown of Skokie, IL and two daughters, Jill (Michael) Hills of Havana and Ande (David) Southey of Peoria, IL. Seven grandchildren also survive; Lindsay Ann Hills, Corey Michelle Hills, Eric Michael Hills, Courtney Roxanne Brown, Mark Garrett Brown, Nicholas Keefer Southey, and Stephanie Michelle Southey.

A banker all of his life, Gordon started banking in 1955 with the First National Bank of Peoria. He moved to Havana in 1958 and worked for the State Bank of Havana becoming President of the Bank. The State Bank later become First Bank from with he retired in 1999. He currently serves as chairman of the board of Havana Community Bank. Besides banking he was active in his community in many organizations including the First United Methodist Church of Havana, the Mason County Housing Board where served for many years, a longtime member of the Havana School Board, he served on the Havana Rural Fire Department for many years, the Havana Optimist Club, a founding member of Lakewood golf association, Havana Boat Club, he delivered meals on wheels, Ducks Unlimited, Havana Jaycees, Havana Lodge #88 AF & AM, and the Ansar Shrine in Springfield, IL

Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Havana, Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 pm Friday at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana with Masonic Services at 8:00 pm. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mason District Hospital or to the First United Methodist Church in Havana.
