Tichacek, 66, of Petersburg died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005,
at Memorial Med
ical Center.
He was born
Oct.
8,
1939. in St. Louis,
the son of
Gregory
and Dorothy
Venker Tichacek. He
married Mary
Ellen Hurst in St. Louis in 1962.
Mr. Tichacek received his Bachelor
of Science
in agriculture from the
University
of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. He worked for the state Department of Natural
Resources as a fisheries biologist for 36 years.
He was past president of Illinois
Chapter of
American Fisheries Society, a member of National Association of Lake Managers.
Central Illinois Muskie Hunters and St. Peter
Catholic
Church. He was active in
Cub Scouts
and Boy Scouts. past
president of
Porta Athletic Boosters
Club, past
vice president and treasurer of Porta Band Parents Association
and
financial secretary of the Knights
of Columbus.
Survivors: wife. Mary Ellen:
son,
Dr. Mark
(wife. Christa) Tichacek of
Carbondale:
daughter. Julie (husband. David) Owens of Petersburg;
four
grandchildren: brother. David P.
(wife. Pat)
Tichacek of Arnold. Mo.:
and several
nieces, nephews. great-nieces and great-nephews.

Peter
Catholic Church, Petersburg. The Rev. Donald Knuffman officiating.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery. Petersburg.
