Shirley Gunning 1937-2008
Shirley Gunning, 70, of Mason City, IL died at 5:55pm at St. Johns Hospital on May 7, 2007. She was born in Beardstown on July 25, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Harvey Bell Sr. and Alta Roberts Bell. She married the late James R. Gunning Sr. in 1962 in Carlinville IL. Surviving is one son; James R Gunning III of Mason City, two daughters; Michelle Bolen of Mason City, Debra Cooper of Mason City; one granddaughter; Danielle Williams, of Elkart; three grandsons: Joey Cooper, Zaccheous Gunning, Brandon Bolen; one great grandson Riley Markee, one great granddaughter; Addison Williams, five sisters: Frances Damm of Mason City, Eileen Johnson of Greenview, Wanda McMillen of Carrollton, Katherine Smith of Pittsfield and Doris of Delhi; five brothers: Glynn Bell of Athens, Kenneth Bell of Summer Hill, Carl Bell of Petersburg, Bobby Bell of Gillespie and Raymond Bell of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband; James R. Gunning Sr.; one son: James R. Gunning Jr.; two sisters: Hilda Eller and Sue Warren; one brother: Harvey Bell. Mrs. Gunning was a Day Care Provider for many children for 33 years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church where she was apart of the Choir, nursery, youth counselor and director of youth music. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 Monday, May 12, 2008 at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Services will be held at Hurley Funeral Home following visitation at 3:00. Burial will be at the Mason City Cemetery. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements.
