Henry W. "Hank" Imig

1920 - 2006

Henry W. “Hank” Imig, 86, of San Jose, died at his residence at 3:15 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2006. He was born August 11, 1920 in rural Allen’s Grove Township to Jacob and Anna (Jacob) Imig. He married Shirley Woll at the 1^st Methodist Church in San Jose on December 27, 1943. She survives.

Mr. Imig is survived by his wife of San Jose, one son: Jan (Gale) Imig of Normal, IL, one granddaughter Rachel Imig and one grandson Brian Imig, both of Normal. Also surviving are two brothers: Walter Imig of San Jose and Duane (Carol) Imig of Boca Raton, FL; and one sister-in-law, Glenna Smith of San Jose and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Kim Imig, daughter Janey Lee Imig, three sisters: Helen Dierker, Vera Rabbe and Florence Behrends and two brothers: Paul and Floyd Imig.  

Mr. Imig was a 1938 graduate of San Jose High School. He farmed in the San Jose area until his retirement in 1988. He later drove the school bus for San Jose and Illini Central school districts and worked as a janitor at Illini Central. He was a Mason County Board Member for over 30 years, first taking office in 1969. He was the County Board Chairman from 1993 until 2001. He was the Allen’s Grove Township Road Commissioner for several years and acted as the Allen’s Grove Township Supervisor from 1974 until the time of his death.  

Mr. Imig was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church at Allen’s Grove, where his funeral service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will also be held at the church on Sunday, Oct. 29, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will follow the services at Green Hill Cemetery in San Jose. Rev. J. Derek Riddle will officiate.
