Harry Carl Hazel 1940 - 2010 Harry Carl Hazel, 69, of Easton, passed away at OSF - St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria at 4:04 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010. He was born to Harry and Freita (Boehl) Hazel on June 2, 1940 in Bath, IL. He married Betty Doty on August 30, 1990 in Mason City, IL. She survives. Mr. Hazel is survived by his wife Betty, of Easton, daughter, Mindy (Ron) Carlson of Blairstown, IA, son Thomas (Pam James) of Seattle, WA, daughter, Rebecca (John) Parkinson of Carbondale, IL, son Michael (Jennifer James) of Normal, IL, daughter, Elizabeth Nelson Hazel of Easton as well as eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Hazel served in the US Navy from 1960 until 1964. He also worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for 31 years, retiring in 1995 as a supervisor and welding instructor. He was a member of UAW Local #974. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2010, also at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services and burial will follow at a later date at Mason City Cemetery. Rev. Sue Roat will officiate.
