Hazel Eileen Atwater

1918 - 2010

Hazel Eileen Atwater, 92, of Havana, passed away at Havana Health Care at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2010. She was born, July 17, 1918 in Natrona, IL, to Fred and Eliza (Shepler) Wood. She married Francis H. Atwater, February 26, 1950 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1982.

Mrs. Atwater is survived by one step-daughter, Pamela (Howard) Rutheford, of Carlinville, two step granddaughters, Jamie (Dane) Fonero of Tennessee, Jill Hudson, two step-great grandchildren, Mathew and Sydney Fonero of Tennessee and one sister, Sandy (Vernon) Rademaker of San Jose. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 3 brothers, her parents and husband.

Mrs. Atwater was a member of the Havana Church of Christ. She belonged to Royal Neighbors. She worked for 10 years at Poppens Bakery in Peoria and White Star Market in 1949-50. She and her husband owned the Produce and Poultry Market in Topeka from 1950 until 1986.

Graveside services will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010.
