Helen Magee

(1914 -2010)

Helen L. Magee, 95, of Petersburg, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Menard Convalescent Center. She was born on September 15, 1914 in Cass County, IL to Henry and Stella May Wilson Taapken. She married Floyd Magee on December 1, 1934 in Springfield.

She is survived by a son, David (Sandy) Magee of Springfield; two sisters, Roberta Curry of Petersburg, and Ethel Jones of Springfield; one brother, Delbert Taapken of Springfield;  two grandchildren, Candace (Dan) Romaker of Springfield, and Aaron (Melissa) Magee of Columbia, SC; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two infant children; five sisters; and four brothers.

She attended Petersburg Christian Church. She was a homemaker and assisted with farming.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 11:00 am at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. Jeff Nelsen will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
