Helen Louise Thomas

Helen Louise Thomas, 81, of Tallula and long time resident of Springfield, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 2:20 am at Sunny Acres Home in Petersburg. She was born on December 26, 1925 in Centralia, IL to Fred and Bessie Mae Short Malcom.  She married James Thomas on February 13, 1945 in Missouri.

She is survived by two daughters, Patsy (Dave) Beard and Penny (Duff) Christy both of Tallula; one brother, Bob (Donna) Malcom of Springfield; five grandchildren Jim Hughes of Pleasant Plains, Rhonda (Darin) Weakley of Petersburg, Angelia Beard of Petersburg, Heather (Bo) Dyer of Jacksonville and Amy (John) Measel of Oakford; and several great grandchildren.

Her husband, parents, one sister, Violet Drennan, and one brother, Gene Malcom, preceded her in death.

She had worked as a dry cleaner.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
