Howard Glen LeMar

(1924 - 2006)

Howard Glen LeMar, 81 of Springfield, died at St. John's North in Springfield, at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2006. He was born on February 12, 1924 in Tallula, IL to Luther and Dollie (Southard) LeMar. He married Inis Baker on July 28, 1946 in Pleasant Plains. She survives.

Mr. LeMar is survived by two sons: David (Renea) LeMar of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Jeffrey (Connie) LeMar of Divernon. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren,  two sisters, Bernice Gum of Tallula and Lena Smith of Springfield, and a brother, William (Virginia) LeMar of Petersburg. He was preceded in death by a daughter, four sisters and one brother.

Mr. LeMar was a member of the Tallula Christian Church. He was a member of the Sandy Ridge Saddle Club of Mason City, Friendship Pinnacle Club of Tallula, and a life member of the VFW in Springfield, IL. He worked with Phillips 66 Petroleum for 28 yrs in Menard County and surrounding areas. Then later retired from the State of Illinois Teachers Retirement Association.

Funeral services will be held at the Tallula Christian Church at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2006. Visitation will be Sunday, January 29, 2006 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial will be at Pleasant Plains Cemetery in Pleasant Plains, IL. Rev. Wayne Meyer will officiate.
