Howard G. Richard

1937 - 2010

Howard G. Richard, 73, of Bath, passed away December 14, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, a son of Mr. & Mrs. Howard E. Richard.

Howard worked at Mobil Chemical in Jacksonville until retiring. He loved to fish, mushroom hunt, play pool and cards with friends and watch Illini basketball.

Survivors are one son, Darin Richard, two brothers, Roland L. Richard, Danny K. Richard, three sisters, Helen Shoemaker, Faye Richard and Adah Johnson; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by a special companion, Shirley Alewelt of Chandlerville. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, Billy Gene, Henry “Hank”, Ernest “Cork”, Jack, Albert, Russell, two sisters, Essie Marie and Rita Ann, one nephew Michael and one niece Melissa. He also had four stepchildren, Donnie Newcomer, Stuart Newcomer, Julia Dodds, Linda Lorton and several step grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at the Chandlerville Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2010 with a luncheon following at the church. Rev. Jim Waterman will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date at Bath Cemetery.
