From Shirley Wilgenbusch:

I had the true pleasure of working with Irene from the time I started with the Appellate Court, February 1, 1983, through her retirement.  She was the consummate professional but with a twist, that being that she made it all fun. She developed little nicknames for many of us as she got to know us as people and colleagues. We could always count on Irene if we needed a hand. With a smile and a flourish, she could find or figure out anything! We enjoyed lunches out, lunches in, and parties at her house on the lake. From the time she retired, we missed the computer database in her head. But more. While none of us is irreplacable, we are each unique; that uniqueness that was Irene was, ever after, absent from our workdays.  And so it is now that you will suffer that angst of missing your own Irene, the warm and fun and funny lady she was. I lost my own mom and dad this year, so I know that these holidays will be hard. I can only say we had the distinct privilege to know Irene, an!

d we will miss her also and remember her always and fondly.
