Jackie H. Smith, 67,
of Tallula, died on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 10:55 pm at
Sunny Acres home in Petersburg. He was born on January 21,
1939 in Sangamon County, IL to Leslie and Gertrude Wheeler
Smith. He married Lillie Joyce Megredy in Tallula on
November 23, 1958.
He is survived by his
wife, Lillie Joyce Smith; a son, Grady (Susie) Smith of
Oakford; two daughters, Gailyn (Jeff) Smith of
Hudson, Wisconsin, and Kristi (Steven) White of
Illiopolis; two brothers, Charles (Mary) Smith of New
Berlin, and Hank (Brenda ) Smith of Pleasant Plains; five
sisters, Shelby Beall of
Springfield, Barbara Quade of
Springfield, Betty Roberts of Ashland, Patty Chapman
of Pleasant Plains, and Linda Smith of
Charleston, IL; and six grandchildren.
Two brothers and one
sister precede him in death.
Mr. Smith had been a
farmer and also worked at Fiat Allis as a machinist and
served as a Union Steward. He was a volunteer fireman in
Tallula.
