James Carl DeCanter

1943-2010

James Carl DeCanter, 66, of Mason City died at 2:30 a.m. on April 5, 2010 at the Titus Regional Medical Center in Titus, TX.  He was born on April 26, 1943 the son of George W. and Mamie L. (Lollar) DeCanter in New Albany, Mississippi.  

Survivors are his companion: Luella Willis, three sons: James W. (Heather) DeCanter of Manito, IL, David W. (Amy) Decanter of Mason City, John M. (Christina) DeCanter of Manito, IL., one daughter: Patti A. Vannice of Salisbury, Maryland.  Three step sons:  Russell L. Willis of Mason City, Jackie J. Willis of Mason City, and Scott D. Willis of Palmyra, IL.  Seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents. 

James was a member of the Mountain Man Organization and loved going on rendezvous and enjoyed camping in his T.P.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was also a Buck Skinner. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010 at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.  Visitation will start at 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at this time the Masonic Service will begin.  Pastor Curt McCallister will be officiating.  Burial will be at the Mason City Cemetery.  Memorials may be left to the Mason City Community Chapel.  Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements.
