Havana, IL - James W. McFarlin, 77, of Havana passed away at 4:35 am Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 at the Havana Healthcare Center. He was born July 31, 1932 in Hollywood, CA the son of William and Sadie Nischwitz McFarlin. He married Janis L. Lowe July 1, 1954 in Havana and she survives.

He was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Havana, a retired teacher having taught at the Balyki High School for many years until it merged into the Havana schools in 1988. After that he continued to substitute teach and tutor students. Jim was a graduate of Bradley University.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michael.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, Dec. 10. 2009 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana conducted by Father James Fedosuk. Memorial contributions may be made to the Havana Public Library or St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
