James Lee Sampson 1924 - 2008 James Lee Sampson, 83, of Petersburg, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 2:20 pm at the Menard Convalescent Center in Petersburg. He was born on April 8, 1924 in Petersburg to Earl and Elizabeth Blood Sampson. He married Viola Love, and later married Doloros Hinrichs. He is survived by a daughter, Janet (Dan) Ortgessen of Petersburg; two sons, Curtis (Connie) Sampson and Jeffrey (Sherry) Sampson, all of Petersburg; two brothers, Harold Sampson of Wheaton, and Walter Sampson of Galesburg; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two his two wives, Viola and Doloros; and two children, a son and daughter, at birth. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Petersburg. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. Dan Roseberry will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008 from 5:00 till 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to donor’s choice.
