Jane M. Bates 1920 - 2006
Havana, IL - Jane M. Bates, 86, of Havana passed
away at 11:00 pm Mon. Sept. 18, 2006 at her residence. She was born Feb. 19,
1920 in St. Johns Newfoundland, Canada the daughter of John and Elizabeth
Murphy Hann. She married Wilbur E. Bates Aug. 12, 1947 in New London, CT and
he died Jan. 14, 2004.
Mrs. Bates was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Havana, the Altar and Rosary Society of her church, VFW Post #6408 Auxiliary, Illinois Power Retirees Club, Fuddy Duddys, and the Birthday Club. She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Ed) Dick of Springfield, IL and Marilyn (George) Ward of St. Augustine, FL; one son, Michael (Marcia) Bates of Austin, TX; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one brother, Joseph Hann of Groton, CT. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Services will be held at 10:00 am Sat. Sept. 23, 2006 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Havana conducted by Fr. Stephen Engelbrecht. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 pm Friday at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harbor Lights Hospice of Peoria. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com. |
