Janice Marlene Wayland

(1940-2010)

Janice Marlene Wayland, 70, of San Jose, died at 8:30pm on August 24, 2010 at her residence.  She was born on February 12, 1940 the daughter of Justus and Maxine (Swigart) Roberts in Macomb, IL.  She married Michael Wayland in Macomb on June 11, 1961. 

Survivors are her husband Michael; two sons: Travis Wayland of St. Joseph, IL and Troy Wayland of Falls Church, VA and three grandchildren.  Mrs. Wayland is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Mrs. Wayland was a member of the San Jose United Methodist Church, Western University Honor Society-National Education Association.  She graduated from Western High School, and then continued her education at Western Illinois Univ. earning a BS in Elementary Education.  She taught at San Jose and Mason City schools for 42 years. 

Services will be at 11:00am on August 27, 2010 at the San Jose United Methodist Church in San Jose with visitation one hour prior.  Rev. Stephen King will officiate.  Burial will be at Allen's Grove Cemetery.  Memorials can be left to American Cancer Society or the Mason City Library.  Hurley Funeral Home in San Jose is in charge of arrangements.
