Jay Christiansen 1975 - 2007
James “Jay” Mitchell Christensen, 31, of Springfield, died Friday, September 7,
2007 at his residence. He
was born December 25, 1975 in Springfield, Illinois the son of David M. and
Linda R. Christensen. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather,
James Christensen. Mr.
Christensen graduated from Petersburg PORTA High School in 1995. He worked for
ADDUS Health Care at the Department of Human Services in Springfield. Jay
was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, and Illini fan. He, also, was a
loyal supporter of the PORTA Bluejays, and enjoyed attending family functions
and watching sporting events of all kinds. Jay touched the lives of many people,
and will be missed by his family, co-workers, and a multitude of friends.
He is survived by his parents, David
and Linda Christensen of Springfield; two sisters, Kari (husband, Brendan)
Murphy of Leesburg, VA, and Erin Christensen of Peoria, IL; Grandparents, Burl
and Marian Jean Mitchell of Effingham; Aretha Hope Christensen of Springfield;
one aunt, Susan Christensen of Springfield; and one nephew, William J. Murphy of
Leesburg, VA.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 11, at 10:00 AM at the Hurley
Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 4 to 8 PM.
Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to Menard County Rescue, PORTA Fitness
Center, or St. John's Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care.
