Havana, IL - Jeanette Steging, 84 of 814 E. Adams St., Havana, IL passed away at 3:55 pm Thurs., Nov. 23, 2006 at the Havana Healthcare Center in Havana. She was born Dec. 23, 1921 in Ft. Benton, Montana the daughter of Alexander and Eda Wissman McDonald.. She married Carl James “Tod” Steging Oct. 7, 1939 in Hannibal, MO and he died March 30, 1997.

Mrs. Steging was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana, St. Paul’s Altar Guild, St. Paul’s Ladies Aid Society and the Mason District Hospital Auxiliary. She was seamstress and farm wife.

Surviving are three sons, Larry Steging of Dallas, TX; Marvin Steging of Jacksonville, IL; Glen Steging of Pekin, IL; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Also surviving are two sisters, Marietta Atwater of Havana and Suzanne Thomas of Glasford, IL; and two brothers, Victor McDonald and Jerry McDonald both of Pekin, IL. She was preceded in death by one brother, James, and her parents.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Tues. Nov. 28, 2006 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Havana conducted by Pastor Martin W. Liebmann. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Havana. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or The Mason Distict Hospital Building Fund. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com.
