Jerald (Jerry) L. Anderson, 64 of Mason City dies at 6:20am on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his residence. He was born on April 15, 1945 the son of John E. and Daisy Mae (Butler) Anderson in Vansant, Virginia. He married Barbara Arnold on October 19, 1966 in Munich, Germany. She survives.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters: Julie (Daniel) Detrick of Mason City and Huntsville, AL, Regina (Steven) Crowe of Brimfield; three brothers: Ron (Jo) Anderson, Jack (Jackie) Anderson, Roger Anderson; one sister: Janice Quayle; his mother in law: Regina Arnold; six grandchildren: Aaron, Samuel, Maggie and Wyatt Detrick, Billy and Sean Crowe; many nieces and nephews: Brian (Rebecca) Anderson, Craig Anderson, Melissa (Tim) Bahlow, Nathan (Erin) Anderson, Mike Quayle, Jennifer Jibben, Amber Quayle, Chasity Anderson, Stephanie (Brad) Huskins, Tim Anderson, Misty (Brandon) Stone, DeLina Baugher, Amen Williams and Trisha Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Anderson graduated Cumberland High School in 1963, served in the United States Army from 1963-1973, which included 18 months service in Vietnam. He worked many years for Robert Martin Farms of Mason City.
Visitation will be at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City from 5-7 on Friday, April 16, 2010. A service will take place at the Mason City Baptist Church at 11:00am on Saturday, April 17, 2010, Pastor Tim Earl will officiate. Memorials can be left to Little Lambs or YWCA Daycare. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of visitation.

Jerry was such a great guy, though he would never boast of that. He was hard working, honest, tough as nails with a sense of humor given when sorely needed. He was also a devoted family man, and one who was a true patriot of this country who gave much for all our freedom. We shall all be lesser with his passing. Our condolences to Barb and all the immediate family and friends.
