John A. Wheelock
(1920 - 2005)
John Albert Wheelock, 85, of Springfield died August 3, 2005 at his residence. He was born July 8, 1920 in Bluffs, IL to John Harrison and Minnie Riebling Wheelock. He married Toy Lee Edwards on July 8, 1948 in Newark, New Jersey. She preceded him in death.
He was a printer and later a foreman at the State Journal Register, retiring after 30 yrs. He was a member of the Trinity Church of the Nazarene of Springfield, and he performed bible studies and visitations at the local nursing homes.
He is survived by one son, George Wheelock of Springfield; a daughter, Debra Wheelock of Charleston, MO; three step brothers, Daniel Wheelock, or Bourbonnais, David Wheelock and James Wheelock both of Las Vegas, NV; four sisters, Ellen Hopkins of Bloomington, Mary McKinley of Canton, Ester Perkins of Littleton, CO, and Ruth Perkins of Burnsville, Minnesota; and one grandchild.
Services were held August 6, 2005 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
