John Hollis

(1922-2010)

John Horace Hollis, 88, of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Menard Convalescent Center. He was born June 18, 1922 in Petersburg, to John and Etta Lounsberry Hollis. He married Jane Austin on February 22, 1947.

His wife, Jane; son, Larry Hollis; daughter, Holly Hollis; and three grandchildren, all of Petersburg, survive him.

Three brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Hollis was a farmer. He was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church in Petersburg, where he held several offices over the years. He was also a 60 year member and past Worshipful Master for Clinton Lodge #19 AF & AM.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 11:00 am at Central Presbyterian Church in Petersburg. Rev. Ed Loper will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church or Clinton Lodge #19 AF & AM.
