John Humphress

(1929-2006)

Pleasant Plains- John Humphress, 77 of Pleasant Plains died May 2, 2006 at his home.

He was born February 17, 1929 in Pleasant Plains to John and Anna Austin Humphress.  He married Francis Jewell May 25, 1951.

Mr. Humphress was in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he later retired from Fiat Allis in 1983 after 35 years of service as a machinist

Survivors: three sons John Humphress, Jere Humphress, both of Pleasant Plains, Tony (Deb) Humphress of Riverton, Il; two daughters Kathy (John) Williamson of Smithton, Il, and Carrie (John) Peter of Springfield, Il.; four sisters Delores (John) Ilsley of Springfield, Il, Leona (Bud) Stiltz of Washington, Il, Elaine (Jack) Rye of Murfreesboro, Tn, and Shirley (Bill) Bloodworth of Springfield Il.

Mr. Humphress is preceded by his parents, wife and three sisters.

Services: There will be a grave side service at 1:30 p.m. at Pleasant Plains Cemetery, The Rev. Dwayne Turley officiating.  Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg.
