John M. Briney 1919 - 2007 John Marshall Briney, 87, of Havana, died at 10:30 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 2007 at Mason District Hospital in Havana. He was born October 22, 1919 in Bluff City, IL to Grover and Goldie (Dixon) Briney. He married Lora L. Lane on November 25, 1948 in Havana. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2004. Mr. Briney is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeced in death by five brothers and sisters, his parents and his wife. Mr. Briney was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Havana. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 263 in Peoria, Shrine Mohammidan in Peoria, Peoria Consistory. He served his country in the Air Force during WWII and was later a member of Havana American Legion Post #138. He was a truck driver for 35 years and a member of Teamsters #627 Local. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana at 11:00 a.m. Rev. John Beiderweiden will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or to the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Online memorial messages may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com. Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements.
