John W. Hodgson, Sr.
1931 - 2012

John W. Hodgson, Sr., 80, of
Oakford, passed away at 12:04 a.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Mason City
Area Nursing Home. He was born February 9, 1931 in Kilbourne to Alvin and Dessie
(Bahl) Hodgson. He married Charlotte Spencer on August 2, 1952 in Spokane, WA.
Mr. Hodgson is survived by two
sons, John (Angie) Hodgson, Jr., of Havana, Joel (Linda) Hodgson of The
Woodlands, TX, three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren one great-grandson and three brothers, Theora and Gary Hodgson of Kilbourne and David Hodgson of Petersburg. He was
preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant son, Brad and one sister,
Catherine.
Mr. Hodgson was a member of St.
Patrick’s Catholic Church in Havana. He served as a part of the Strategic Air
Command at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, WA from 1950 until 1954. While
in the Air Force, 325th Bombardment Squadron, he worked as an aircraft mechanic
and aircraft jet engine mechanic. He was awarded the National Defense Service
Medal. He was
part owner of Hardwood Lumber Products in Kilbourne for many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Havana at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January
27, 2012. Burial will follow the services at Bethel Cemetery near Bath. Fr.
David Whiteside will officiate.
