Joseph A. Snyder    

(1927 - 2005)

Joseph Addison Snyder, 78, of Petersburg died on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 1:20 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on March 4, 1927 in Chandlerville, IL to Ernest "Jack" and Lola Duckwiler Snyder. He married Delores Powell in Missouri in 1947. She died in 1986.

Mr. Snyder owned and operated Snyder Hardwood Lumber Co in Kilbourne all his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Petersburg, the National Hardwood Lumber Association and the Illinois Wood Products Association.

He is survived by three sons, Larry (Rosanne) Snyder of Petersburg, Ronnie (Becky) Snyder of Kilbourne, and Jack (Paula) Snyder of Kilbourne; three daughters, Brenda (Happy) Hanna of Edinburg, Cathy Snyder of Petersburg, and Lisa Mitchell of Springfield; three brothers, Jim Snyder of New Mexico, Kenny Schaad of Petersburg, and Darrell Snyder of Rushville; three sisters, Selma (Charles) Sharp of Atterberry, Thelma Duncheon of Oakford, and Betty Cassens of Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Services were held on Monday, November 21, 2005 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
