Julius Thomas

Julius Thomas, 67, of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 12:10 am at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on March 26, 1943 in Oakford, IL to Vivian Fry.
He is survived by a son, George (Elaine) Thomas and a daughter, Melissa McGuire, a granddaughter, Samantha McGuire, all of Colorado Springs; three sisters, Carol (Mike) Cowan of Green Valley, Janet Barnes of Petersburg, and Adaline (Robert) Woolsey of Salisbury; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Fricke and a brother, Douglas Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a US Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a life member of VFW of Petersburg and of Disabled Veterans of Springfield. He was also a 32nd degree Mason in Petersburg and Springfield.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 9:30 am at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Pastor Jeffrey Gross will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
