Havana, IL – June K. Schierbeck, 88, of
Havana passed away at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Havana Health
Care. She was born May 21, 1923 in Snicarte, the daughter of Howard and Irene
Waddell Fletcher. She married Eldon Schierbeck April 21, 1946 at First Baptist
Church in Havana, IL and he survives.
Mrs. Schierbeck was a member of First
Baptist Church in Havana where she was a teacher and church clerk, and the VFW
Post 6408 Women’s Auxiliary of Havana. She loved traveling, reading and working
crossword puzzles. She was a secretary working in Havana with the OPA Office
during the war, worked for Joseph W. Hobbs, Mason County Superintendent of
Schools and retired from the Schierbeck Insurance Agency.
She is survived by one son, Louis (Diana)
Schierbeck, of Oronogo, Missouri; one granddaughter, Sherry (Dan) Supan, of
Normal, IL; one great-grandson, Isaiah; and one sister, Betty Connolly, of Bath.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Eldon Schierbeck, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00
a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Havana conducted
by Pastor Daniel Swihart. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery at Havana.
Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Wednesday, January
18, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the First
Baptist Church in Havana.
