Kathryn R. Hill
1915 - 2006


Mrs. Hill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Champaign, active in the Women’s Bible study of her church, and other groups in her church. She was a loyal Illini Fan, a member of My Fair Ladies of Havana Red Hats, a concert pianist and member of the National Honor Society. Kathryn Graduated from Pleasant Plains High School in 1933. She attended the University of Illinois in 1933 on a full academic scholarship, graduating in 1937. She then did graduate work at the U of I. After graduation she worked in administration at the U of I. She married Dr. Hill and lived at several universities thoughout the country including The University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL for six years, Purdue University, Monmouth College in IL, and finally returned to the University of Illinois, working in veterinary medicine, then served as Assistant to the Dean of the College of Agriculture, retiring in 1983. She was awarded emeritus status from that position. Kathryn lived for life of service to others and in doing so served the Lord. She was a true lady.
She is survived by one daughter, Julia (Daniel) Pryor of Havana; one son, Greg Hill of Champaign; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Henry Rothert of Pleasant Plains, IL and Roland (Oda) Rothert of Auburn, IL
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Fri. May 26, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church in Champaign. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at her church (from 1:00 until 2:00 pm). Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Champaign. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the First Presbyterian Church in Champaign or the Univ. of IL College of ACES Scholarship Fund. Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of services.
