Costa,
66, of Petersburg died
Monday, Dec.
19,
2005, at
Memorial
Medical
Center.
He was born
Aug. 29,
1939, in
Litchfield,
the son of August and Frances Lloyd Costa. He married
Ginny
Layendecker in 1995 in Petersburg.
Mr. Costa and his wife owned
and operated
Tea Room on the
Square,
Costa’s Fine Chocolate and Outa Space Storage. He retired
from New
Salem Historical Site in
2003, where
he was in charge of security. and indoor theater for 14
years; He
was a golf professional
for more
than20 years, working at
Shambolee
Golf Course in Petersburg where he helped develop the
Junior
Golf Program. He also
taught golf
at Lincoln Land Community College.
He was a
member of St. Peter Catholic Church in
Petersburg,
New Salem
Lincoln League and the
U.S. Golf Association.
He was a former member of the Professional
Golf
Association and was the Illinois State Senior Amateur Golf
Champion in
1997.
Survivors: wife, Ginny; son, Dow
(wife, Mary
Ellen) Costa of Truckee, Calif.; stepson, Mark (wife, Sue)
Blazis of
Chicago; daughter, Dana
Parkin of
Athens; stepdaughter,
Denise
Blazis -Mataya (husband, Vincent Mataya) of Cantrall; and
seven
grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, St.
Peter
Catholic Church, Petersburg,
the Rev. Don
Knuffman officiating.
Burial:
Calvary Cemetery, Petersburg.
Memorials may be made to the Menard County Rescue Squad, VNA Hospice or
Masses.n
