William Kenneth Selby

1924 - 2010

William Kenneth Selby, 86, of Havana, passed away at 1:55 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Havana Health Care Center. He was born October 29, 1924 in Chandlerville, IL to Charles and Frieda (Griffin) Selby. He married Florence Marie Houston on December 29, 1957 in Havana.

Mr. Selby is survived by his wife of Havana, two sons, Charles (Connie) Selby and Rick (Sandy) Selby, both of Havana and one daughter, Anna (James) Richardson of Bath, as well as 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Also surviving is his brother, Richard Hurt of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 half-brothers, 1 half-sister and one brother, Bill Selby.

Mr. Selby was a member of the Havana Church of Christ, VFW Post #6408, the Bowler’s Hall of Fame in St. Louis and served in the US Army during WWII in the Atlantic. He was the 1st person to bowl a 300 game at the bowling alley in Havana.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 21, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Warren Hughes will officiate.
