Kenneth L. Oest 1939 - 2007 Kenneth L. Oest, 68, of Matanzas Beach, died at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 8:30 p.m. He was born March 26, 1939 in rural Bath, IL to John and Anabelle (Koehne) Oest. He married Bessie Sidwell on June 14, 1963 at Bethel Baptist Church near Bath. Mr. Oest is survived by his wife Bessie, two sons: Kevin (Connie) Oest of Astoria and Aaron (Patti) Oest of Lewistown; five grandchildren: Jaci, Aireonna, Caitlin, Michael and Justin; and two brothers: Alvin Oest of Topeka, IL and Donald Oest of Avon. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers: Vernon and John. Mr. Oest was a 1957 graduate of Balyki High School and served in the US Army in Germany in the late 1950’s. He was retired from Bauer Implement Company in Greenview where he worked as a parts salesman for many years. He was an avid duck hunter and a member of Ducks Unlimited. Funeral services will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be Monday night from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Bethel Cemetery. Rev. Duane Turley will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
