Kenneth Henry Schaad

1915 - 2010

Kenneth Henry Schaad, 94, of Petersburg, formerly of Chandlerville, passed away at St. John's Hospice in Springfield at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010. He was born April 2, 1915 in Cass County, IL to Albert and Lola (Thrasher) Schaad. After his father passed away, he was raised by his mother and step-father, E.E. "Jack" Snyder.

Mr. Schaad is survived by one daughter, Barbara Jean Shover of Albuquerque, NM and one son, Kenneth D. Schaad of Griggsville, IL, as well as four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The oldest of eleven children, Mr. Schaad is also survived by three sisters, Betty Cassens, Thelma Duncheon and Selma Sharp. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.

Mr. Schaad was a member of Sangamon Valley Presbyterian Church, Sangamon Valley Coon Hunters Club and as a lifetime farmer, a member of the Menard County Farm Bureau. He loved to hunt and fish. For many years, he raised beagles for coon hunting. He also served in the CCC Camp for three years in Washington and Montana.

Graveside services will be held at Chandlerville Cemetery on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Duane Turley will officiate.
