James R. (Dick) Salesman (1923-2009) James R. (Dick) Salesman, 86 of Mason City died at 2:25am on October 4, 2009 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home. He was born on March 7, 1923 in Jefferson County, KY, the son of Harrison and Gertrude (Davis) Salesman. He married Juanita Joy Griffin on October 1945, she died in 1947: they had a daughter, Dixie Ellen, who was stillborn May 21, 1947. He later married Helen Walker on December 19, 1953; she died on May 20, 2006. Surviving is one son: Richard (Neattie) Salesman of Alexandria, LA. Mr. Salesman served in the US Army from February 1943-October 1945, decorated with five Bronze Stars, and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Jackson-Keen Post 496. He was the owner /operator of Salesman’s Service Station from 1956-2006. He also worked for Brook’s Motor Company. A grave side service will be at 10:00am, Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Mason City Cemetery. A Memorial Service is planned for October 21, 2009 at 2:00pm at the Mason City Assembly of God Church, Pastor James Sprinkel will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mason City Area Nursing Home. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements.
