Larry William McDaniel

1950 - 2010

Larry William McDaniel, 60, of Springfield, formerly of Mason City, passed away at his home at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 09, 2010. He was born November 29, 1950 in Springfield, to Roy Irving and Stella (Chaffin) McDaniel.

Mr. McDaniel is survived by two sons, Josh McDaniel of Mason City and Jared McDaniel of Springfield. Also surviving are two sisters, Virginia McDaniel of Montgomery Village, MD, Alice Tebben of Columbia, TN and one brother, Joe McDaniel of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. McDaniel was a Viet Nam veteran, serving in the US Army from 1968 – 1972. He had worked as a baseball umpire for 23 year and was certified with IHSA for the last 16 years. He was also a member of the Mason City Jackson Keen Post #496. He had worked for IDOT for many years as a highway maintainer and lead worker.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a visitation will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2010.
