Laura May Altig (1916 - 2009) Laura May Altig, 92, of Oakford, IL passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 9:22 am at her residence. She was born on December 25, 1916 in Mankato, Minnesota to Elza and Rosy Jenkins Ishmael. She married Collie Jay Altig on January 24, 1937. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Foster of Oakford; grandson, Eric Robert (April Lynne) Foster of Lynchburg, OH; two sisters, Karen Wheeler of Wisconsin, and Lucille Riecks of Springfield; three great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, and three sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Altig worked for Interstate Brand Bakeries for twenty years when she and her husband lived in Chicago. She was a lifelong member of Oakford United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Petersburg Women’s Club and Menard County Garden Club. Funeral services wil be held on Friday, November 27, 2009 at 11:00 am at Oakford United Methodist Church. Rev. Judy Vidakovich will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Oakford Cemetery.
